Symbolism behind the door and chosen colours....

The colours chosen honour Autumn season in particular. So much happens during this time of year. Tree leaves drop to the ground, fungi appear and sometimes form 'Fairy rings' on the ground, Apples are ready to be picked or harvested. The veil to the spirit world thins with our mumdane world. And witches & pagans alike celebrate Samhain/Halloween.

The Besom (or broomstick) is associated with Witch folk and is considered to be a cleansing and protective tool.

The Gargoyle by the front door is a protective symbol to scare away evil spirits that wishes to enter the home.

The Pumpkin (Jack o'Lantern when carved) placed by a front door keeps 'lost' spirits away from the home. And lets not forget that it is an offering of food to those that have passed. And, a readily available and delicious root vegetable during this season. 🎃

The Apples are also a symbol of food for our ancestors or loved ones who have passed. And, makes a delicious beverage named Cider. A very popular beverage made in the South West of England. 🍎

The Black Cat is a popular symbol seen around Halloween. It is considered to be a Witch's 'familiar' or companion. And despite outdated superstition, the black cat is a loving companion to anyone that has the privilege to have one in their life. 😻

The Lion Door knocker is a symbol of sovereignty, strength and protection.

The Hedgehog is an animal that may be seen more frequently during Autumn if you are lucky enough to spot one. These mammals population is on decline because of increased road traffic and people are less likely to have gaps in their garden fences minimising the Hedgehog's chances to forage for food.

The Red Leaves are a reminder of the change of the season and a symbol of Autumn.

The Green Moss invites the Fae and offers shelter to birds and bugs too.

The front door key is symbolic because (in my opinion) it opens or closes opportunities. And in this inatance, it is a necessary tool for the Fae to enter the other side of the door.

The Toad stools are often associated with fairies. In Irish folklore tales, it is advised not to enter or step into a 'fairy ring' as this is a sacred realm to the Fae folk. It is believed that if a person enters the fairy ring the concept of time disappears and even one could dance away to total exhaustion and die from it! Therefore, it is best to respect it and walk around it. 🍄

The Crystal Ball symbolises divination and the ability to see what was and what will be? The Crystal ball has been placed on the centre of a mini wood slice displaying all the symbols representing the Elements (Earth Air, Fire & Water) to create total harmony.

The Door represents a portal to another realm.
